As most of you know, we began moving back into our house last week. On Wednesday the twenty fourth, I took off of work to pack up the apartment and Michael took the afternoon off to help me move everything to the house. After many trips up and down the three flights of stairs that I definitely will not miss, we managed to get everything into Michael's truck and my car and were on our way home. The manager at Shadow Creek apartments is so awesome, we are so grateful to her for finding room for us there. It took far less time unpacking the cars than it did packing them but it was pretty overwhelming walking in the house for the first time since the mover had been there. We were under the impression that they would try to put all of the furniture in the room it went into along with the boxes but that was not the case. They did put the furniture together and got most of it into the right rooms but the rest was just dropped in the living room. Since then, while I have been home I have managed to get it looking somewhat normal! I got our bedroom and Parker's bedroom done first, then I got the kitchen done. The bathroom is next on my agenda followed by the living/dining rooms which I am sure will mostly be Christmas decorations. While I was getting Parker's room all unpacked I decided I might as well go through and pack away all of the clothes he can no longer wear...it was so sad!!! I looked at the clothes that he was wearing around Christmas and the tornado and realized just how much he has grown since then. There are so many things that were packed in storage that he never got to wear also, and that just made me sad. I just had to tell myself that all of these clothes will be packed away temporarily because Parker will have a baby brother eventually...like years from now :-). I can't say that I am looking forward to cleaning up the bathroom...it is pretty gross in there, when we got home I cleaned it just enough to live in so I need to get in there and Clorox the entire room and get it all unpacked. When all is said and done, I will be happy and proud to show the house to everyone.
It was so hard to see the blessings that would come out of this situation while I was sitting on my neighbors couch, holding Parker and crying my eyes out. A million things were running through my mind from the moment it happened. So I was sitting at the neighbor's house, trying to process what was happening and at the same time, listening to the teenagers freaking out about the cops coming because I am sure they were doing drugs or something when all of this happened, with exception of the one boy who helped me and Parker get from our house to the other, the others weren't trying to help anyone, not worried about whether anyone was hurt...just worried about getting caught doing whatever it was that they were doing. I remember being so mad at them because I knew the sirens they were hearing weren't from cop cars but most likely from fire trucks or ambulances. So I was sitting there thinking the usual, why did this happen, what are we going to do and Belinda came in to get us...she saw me crying and gave me a hug and told me the one thing that I didn't think of until then, my family was alright. No one was hurt and the things that were damaged or lost could be replaced. Over the next couple of weeks she wouldn't be the only one to point this out to me. My family was alright. So now sitting here I see that we were blessed in that way, we are blessed to have such amazing friends and family and we were blessed in the fact that we are now living in a safer and more updated home than we had before.
On a happier note! The weather these last couple of days has been great! I can practically smell the sun screen! I can't wait for flips flops, shorts...maybe...and swimming!! Parker is going to love the pool, as much as he loves the bath, I know he'll be a water baby.
Michael's Birthday is coming up, he'll be twenty eight years old, and he thinks he is getting old! For the last couple of years he has been asking for some kind of hunt for his birthday and this year I thought I would look in to it. My Aunt Donna and Uncle Forrest have a friend that has a lease where you can hunt exotics and told Michael about it last year so I went ahead and made plans to go. I think it is going to be pretty cool, he will get to shoot a Ram and a couple of hogs with his bow! For anyone interested in this sort of hunt the website is keithjohnsoutdoors.com
Until next time, I hope everyone has a wonderful Good Friday and a very happy Easter.
