On April 30 I along with some friends and family will be walking in the March for Babies. When I made the team I was excited that I'd be walking and getting donations to help babies who are born too soon or very sick. I'd be supporting the research needed to help mothers carry out a full term pregnancy.
As I looked up shirt designs online and thought of recipes to bake for a bake sale I had a thought. I want to walk for a certain baby, it would make our journey more meaningful, and I knew who I wanted my team to walk for. Ella Grace.
In a much too short 21 weeks and 1 day Ella Grace not only changed her Mommy and Daddy's lives, she changed the world. Ella Grace left the earth too soon and was delivered straight into her Maker's hands on March 4, 2011. This little girl not only touched the lives of her family, she touched the lives of all who knew about her and after 2 losses she was the miracle that we'd all been praying for. We all waited in anticipation for the first weekend in March when we would all find out what Britt and "A" were having...instead we received calls and emails that they had lost their sweet baby.
On my way home from work that day I called my granny and cried...it wasn't fair! My heart was broken for them and I felt helpless, helpless and guilty, I had a happy healthy baby and they had lost their third.
I told my team yesterday that we were going to dedicate our walk and any future walks to Ella Grace and they all agreed that it was a wonderful decision. In this small way my team and I are helping, our donations may help with the research to save babies like Ella Grace and by walking for her, we're keeping her memory alive.
If you would like to donate to our cause please click on the March for Babies link in left sidebar or go to http://www.marchforbabies.org/team/MarchinMommas
The journey to saving babies lives may be a long one but you have to walk to get there.
