This weekend Parker and I went to visit my mom. I needed it really badly and I am so glad we went, every one needs their Momma…even when you’re grown up and are a Momma yourself!
We got there Friday evening and got to go out for dinner with both my mom and Mark (Mi-Mi and Papa Mark) it seems that every weekend we go down for a visit, Mark is working so it was nice that we got to spend some time with him. We also saw my brother Robert (Uncle Awesome), Parker was pretty happy to see his uncle and they had fun playing with his phone. If you have an I-Phone, there is an App you can get for free, it’s a cat that records your voice and then copies what you said in a high pitched helium sounding voice…it is hilarious.
On Saturday we got Parker’s Halloween costume, he is going to be a pirate! I wasn’t going in that direction at all but when I saw it I thought he would make an adorable little pirate! Anyway I am going to be channeling my creative side over the weekends leading to Halloween to transform Parker’s Radio Flyer car into a pirate ship! Cute right? I’ll let you know how it goes ha-ha.
After looking at costumes and getting Parker down for a nap after lunch, my mom, Parker and I headed to my Aunt Donna’s house to help Destiny (Nene) get ready for her Homecoming dance. She looked so pretty! Parker was trying to get into that bathroom the entire time and was into EVERYTHING…We had planned on going to dinner with Aunt Donna after she dropped Destiny and Trevor off but the weather was looking bad so we decided to take a rain check.
Even though the weather looked bad my mom, Parker and I decided to go visit my grandpa who is in a nursing home right now. When we got there he was lying in bed watching a football game, he looked so small. I haven’t seen him since last Christmas and I couldn’t believe how skinny and frail he looked. He sat up when we got in there and said hello to us before he looked at Parker and said “Benjamin! How are you?” He had three pictures on his wall by his bed, 2 of Parker last Christmas and 1 picture of me and him on my wedding day. He looked at the picture and told Parker “I say good morning to you every day! I say, Good morning Benjamin and you never answer, but now you can!” Parker was smiling the whole time, it was sweet. We stayed there for about 30 minutes and then had to go because it was late but it was nice to see him.
On Sunday we didn’t do a whole lot, I was dreading the drive home but at 4 I knew I needed to go so it wouldn’t be too late when we got home. I had fun and I wanted to stay longer but that’s how it is every time I visit.
When I got home and got out of the car I almost screamed…it felt SOOOO good!!! I was so excited about the fact that it wasn’t 100 degrees at 6:00 that I asked Michael if we could eat dinner outside ha-ha, he said no of course because we don’t have any outside furniture. We decided to open all of the windows to let the fall air in. It was great!
This morning I was even more excited. I watched the news and knew it would be cool enough for Parker to wear jeans ::eek!:: so he wore blue jeans and a t-shirt and I brought a light weight jacket he got for his birthday to daycare. When I got there I was shocked to see that Parker was the only one in jeans in his class…Oh well I know my kiddo was warm! I can’t wait for it to be cool enough through out the day for him to wear long sleeves because he got a ton of cute clothes for his birthday! I on the other hand…could not find my green long sleeved shirt! I have no clue where it is…it probably got lost in the move back home or is packed with maternity clothes…hell it could be in a laundry basket that has clothes we don’t wear anymore. I have no idea…Obviously I need to use my weekend to clean the house.
I REALLY want to try to get my flower beds cleaned up because OMG weeds have taken over! If the weather stays this nice all weekend I will be setting Parker up in the yard with some toys in baby jail so that we can enjoy the outside air and make my yard look pretty again. Michael mowed yesterday so I need to keep up my part of the yard! I am hoping to get some mums planted where my poor butterfly flowers were…they didn’t stand up to the heat like all of my other flowers did. My Vinca grew and grew! I love them, they are so pretty.
I am so ready for this cool weather to last all day; I can already feel the chill on my nose and ears. I can smell the crisp cool air and hear the crunch of the falling leaves. Just thinking about it makes my heart warm up! I absolutely love fall, it is my favorite season. While I was in Brookshire Brothers this afternoon I stopped to look at their pumpkins, they had some really nice ones, perfect for carving but I know it’s way too soon.
Has anyone ever bought small pumpkins and painted them for their desk? Is that totally corny? I want to decorate my desk but I am on a tight budget that does not include a weekend run to Hobby Lobby, I don’t have any fall décor so at home either so I have to try to be creative. I’ll be perusing some of the craftier blogs and looking for ideas from Country Living Magazine and Martha ha-ha.
Soon it will be Christmas…don’t even get me started on my favorite Holiday season. Holy Cow lets pray that there will be NO TORNADOS this year.
Well friends, I am going to get out of here and go get my little man! Happy Fall!!
